Eight Great Events on the Docket this Weekend at the Delaware and Maryland Beaches, as well as Northern Delaware and Historic Annapolis

Just a couple of weeks now until the big Memorial Day Weekend at the Delaware and Maryland beaches and throughout the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. And that means much more to see and do all along the coast and even further inland.

We've got eight great options for you this week in our "Weekender Blog," for seven years now brought to you by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Compass RE.

From Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Lewes, upstate in the Wilmington area, and even westward across the Chesapeake Bay to Maryland's capital city of Annapolis, we've got you covered this weekend no matter where you happen to be in the region.

So let's cut short the intro this week and get straight to the events. That's why you're here anyway, right?

We begin with an annual rite of Spring in the "Nation's Summer Capital."

Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach 38th Annual Spring Sidewalk Sale (May 14-16)

Head to the Delaware beaches this weekend for an annual rite of passage - the yearly Spring Sidewalk Sale in both Rehoboth Beach and neighboring Dewey Beach.

This year's sale begins on Friday, May 14, and ends on Sunday, May 16. The sale will run each of the three days from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., and it is a rain or shine event.

For more information, call the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce at 302-227-2233 or visit www.beach-fun.com.

Pontoon Lagoon Weekend at the Dogfish INN! (May 14-16)

The always fun loving folks at the Dogfish Head Brewery have designed this special three-day event in the coastal region, with the headquarters being the Dogfish Head Inn in downtown Lewes.

The Pontoon Weekend will last from May 14-16 and is a partnership between Dogfish Head and the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays. It's also part of Dogfish Head's yearly "Mother Nature, Let's Do This" initiative for 2021.

Some of the scheduled activities for the Pontoon Weekend include a happy hour with Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione at Grain on the Rocks in Lewes on Friday, as well as all sorts of activities over the weekend.

There are excursions in the works, as well as discussions and lectures, educational opportunities, lots of yummy treats from Dogfish Head and don't forget the Fireside Chat on the Water on Saturday.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday with events at Chesapeake & Maine and Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats, both in downtown Rehoboth Beach.

Spring Fling Art Show and Sale (May 15)

Scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, May 15, the 2021 show promises appearances from local artists, as well as many from other areas of Delmarva.

There will also be lots of food, some great music and a silent auction as part of the free event, which is an annual fundraiser for the fire department.

ESA 2021 Northeast Regional Surfing Championships (May 14-16)

Some of the best amateur surfers in the country will be in Ocean City this weekend for the annual Eastern Surfing Association (ESA) Northeast Regional Surfing Championships.

The event will be held on the beach at 36th Street and is scheduled for Friday, May 14 through Sunday, May 16.

This event features surfers from Maryland to Maine and even over into the Great Lakes region.

90th Radnor Hunt Races (May 15)

Feel like doing something a little different on this middle weekend of May? Then head a couple of hours north for the 2021 Radnor Hunt Races, held at the Brandywine Conservancy in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

For four decades, this event has been "Racking for Open Space," with proceeds benefitting the clean water and open space programs of the Conservancy.

Organizers estimate that more than 63,000 acres have been preserved via this annual equestrian event.

Tickets for the 2021 event are available via "party pods" and can be purchased here.
